Maven vs Maven Lite

what is the difference between Maven and Maven Lite?

Maven is our app for iOS based devices, it was developed from 2017 till now and contains all features shown on this site.

Maven Lite is our Android version released in late December 2022
The app contains fewer features than its iOS counterpart but will be constantly updated in the coming months until it reaches full Maven functionality

Update March 2023: added VR mode

Here is the list of differences:

it might seem that Maven Lite is very limited, but still the virtual copilot allows you to perform these functions:

  • POI spotlight
  • GPS Follow/Track ME
  • Cable Cam
  • Automatic Orbit

as mentioned earlier maven lite will be updated until deserving the name maven! This page will be updated as progress progresses!

Maven 3.10 – Follow Me

Here the entire change log:

  • Virtual Copilot 2.0! It can now focus on you, and therefore it can do:
    • Follow Me
    • Altitude Follow
    • Track Me (follow from side)
    • Orbit Me (while following)
    • Camera frame option (middle or bottom)
    • Automatic update of the Home Point
    • up to 60km/h (37mph)
  • We recommend watching this tutorial:
Follow ME Tutorial
  • Other Virtual Copilot improvement:
    • Cable Cam Max Speed 15m/s (up from 10m/s)
    • Improved Automatic Yaw Smoothness
  • New feature for all supported drones
    • Course Lock
    • Home Lock
    • this are two Headless Mode, learn more down below

  • New option for the camera view
    • Fit to Width
    • Fit to Content
  • Grid! Now (finally) you can have a grid on the screen, turn it ON in the app settings
  • On screen Device GPS status
  • Improved AR Locator
    • now works in minimized video windows
    • now react correctly and adjusts to the optical zoom of the Mavic 2 Zoom
  • The update also include
    • Fix of minor bugs
    • UI tweaks

This update includes 2 “old” intelligent flight modes, Course Lock and Home Lock, which DJI has removed from the new drones, and which we repurpose in our app following repeated requests.
In the video that I link below it is explained what it is

Maven 3.9 – orbit and spirals

This Maven update brings a feature to automatic missions that will make your head spin !!

Now there is the possibility to turn any waypoint into an orbit or spiral! check out this video tutorial we have prepared! and to follow the entire change log of the update!

change log:

  • Mission Planner Improvements:
    • add the possibility to transform any waypoint into an “orbit waypoint”
    • modifying the parameters of the “orbit waypoint” you can create any orbit or spiral in your autonomous mission
    • orbit parameters:
      • radius
      • number of laps
      • final radius
      • final height
    • add the possibility to transform a waypoint into a POI
    • added the possibility to assign tags to the mission to classify it, there are predefined tags and the user can add other customized ones
  • Improvements to the “by flight” function:
    • now you can save POIs
  • Improvements to the mission list:
    • sorting
      • now you can choose to sort the list by modification date, mission name or mission location.
    • filter
      • now it is possible to filter the list of missions by tags or by mission location
  • Minor improvements to the graphical interface
    • (who doesn’t like rounded corners?)
  • recompiled for full compatibility with iOS 15
  • other small improvements under the hood to make it more responsive and ready for future updates

Uploading Flight Logs to AirData UAV

Overview

Every professional drone pilot understands the importance of having good quality post-flight logs at their disposal at all times.

They serve not only as analytical data to understand the events that unfolded during flight, but also as historical record of flights in compliance with regulations and predictive maintenance of onboard components & batteries.

How to configure log synchronization with AirData UAV

to start enter the flight logs section from the main screen of the app..

tap on settings…

enter your AirData upload token and that’s it

where retrieve the upload token

go to airdata.com and log in, the click on “My account”

Maven 3.6 – Copilot

Maven 3.6 is available on the app store! It brings improvements to all the functions of the app and introduces a whole new function: the virtual co-pilot! Watch the video to find out what it is and how to use it! Check also the complete change log after the video

-Virtual Copilot

a totally new feature to the app, especially useful for drones without native Point of Interest functionality (e.g. Mavic Mini) choose a point on the map, then ask the copilot to control the Yaw Rotation and the camera to look at that point while you are free to manually fly the drone.

The copilot has also more advanced skill such as “orbit” and “cable cam” , check the included manual.

The copilot will open doors to great shots even to inexperienced pilots!

-Waypoint Mission Improvement:

1)Mission trimnow you can choose which waypoint to start and end the mission from without deleting waypoints

2) Interval photosnow you can take photos at intervals between waypoints, based on time or distance

3)rewrote the virtual stick algorithm again for drones without native waypoint mission capabilities (mavic mini and mavic air 2) you will see a big improvement in smooths in speed and direction changes

– Faster head tracking speed option in VR mode

-Improvement of the user interfacenow camera controls can be minimized for a less cluttered interface

-Added device charging options for remotes that allow it

-Fixed a bug where the corner radius of the second waypoint could not be saved in some situations
